Today we are focusing on these verses in our home:
- Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. - Matthew 7:12
We are remembering that God doesn't tell us to do to other what they did to us, but what we would want them to do to us.
- Turn the other cheek. - Matthew 5:39
We are remembering that God doesn't tell us if someone hits us to hit them back, He tells us to take a deep breath and walk away, or look the person in the eye and tell them "I forgive you".
- No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. - 1 Corinthians 10:13
We are remembering that God has given us the strength and option to make the right choice the first time. We are remembering that when we make the right choice He says to us "Good choice! I'm a so proud of you!" What wonderful words to hear from our Lord and Savior!
- Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6
I am remembering that it is my job as a parent to discipline (train) my children. I pray desperately that when they are older they will know The Truth so deeply in their hearts and minds that they won't have to stop and think about decisions. That all of their decisions would be driven from what they know is God's heart for their lives.
This lady did a great job of following these commandments...and teaching us to do the same!
