6 Months Together

Half of a year.
At times, it feels like forever since we were in Ethiopia meeting our new sons for the first time.
At other times the boys will ask what a simple word means
and I am reminded they are still so new to our family, to our country, to our culture.

To celebrate our six months together we had family pictures made.
They are so beautiful, and I am filled with such mixed emotions as I look at them.
It's visual proof of what our family has come through together.

I am glad that this milestone hits right before Thanksgiving.
It's been a wonderful time of year to reflect on what we've been given.
The things that we take for granted every day, things like running water,
electricity 24 hours a day, a doctor available at all times,
and each other.

I am reminded, through the loss that we have experienced losing a child,
and the loss that my newest sons have endured,
that we are not guaranteed tomorrow with each other...

We are learning patience, (it takes a lot with these four!)
and gratitude.
We are learning to appreciate each other every. single. day.

We continue to work through challenges,
but I am filled with peace,
knowing that Lincoln and I will always work through them...
together.

I am reminded that
"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded;
and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked."
Luke 12:48

We have been given so much.

And we can't wait to give so much back...
