You have to be careful when picking a Home Study Agency! Although there are a few here in Missouri that are very similar in price you must also take into account what they require of you. Some require one in-home visit, some require two or three. You must take into account the milage cost of these visits (because there aren't any close to STJ of course!). Do they charge by the hour or by the mile?
Do they require any educational courses...and if so do you have to travel to the workshop, do you have to purchase the books or DVDs, or will they be provided to you with the agency fee?
Is the home study agency willing to sign a cooperating agreement form with your Adoption Agency?
What is their response when you ask about the wait time after all the paperwork is completed? I have heard anywhere from 5 weeks to "I have no idea, I guess however long it takes to get back the fingerprints and such". (wow...definitely not going with THAT agency! ha ha)
We will pick our home study agency this afternoon...I'm anxious to get this part of the adoption over with! :0)

Hey Ashley-when a agency says how long it takes to get the finger prints back, means how soon you get to the location and get them done. Really the fingerprints and background checks are time consuming, not on your end but the states and federal end.
we are so excited for you guys! best of luck!
