Kisses Momma

"Kisses Momma!"

Blake, fast asleep in my arms in June 2010

That's what I always hear when I walk into the kids room
to tuck them in for the night.
It always comes out of Blake or Silas, and I think...

how many nights did they wait for a Momma to kiss them goodnight?
standing in front of the bed where he waited...

The routine is always the same, a kiss from Momma on their forehead, and a kiss for Momma on her cheek.

Four precious times each night I do this.

I swear he'll sleep anywhere!

I'm determined, that as long as they want it, someone will kiss them goodnight... and remind them of how special they are.

Blake sleeping in my bed tucked under a family quilt. Sights like this do an adoptive Momma's heart good. There's something special about sharing my family history with him... and making it his as well.

This made me cry. With sweetness and sadness. I wonder if their first mother did this for them. And how they coped with less adult affection and attention at an orphanage.

This will be such a great memory piece for you to have for a book later!
