Hunter's 1/2 Birthday

We've never celebrated 1/2 birthdays. I've always adored the idea, and wanted to make the cute little 1/2 cakes and such, but just haven't done it. We did toss around the idea of celebrating Graysen's 1/2 birthday because her birthday is so close to Christmas...but never did act on that.

This year, with our three boys in school we've realized just how much our lives are going to change! Celebrating birthdays at school are a big deal...you get to wear a birthday crown, your Mom gets to bring in cupcakes, etc. Well, Hunter will never be in school on his birthday (August 5th), so I asked his teacher if we could celebrate his 1/2 birthday! He was happy with this idea, and his teacher was very gracious to allow us to do it!

Hunter was very specific with his cupcake request. Chocolate cupcakes with red frosting and footballs on top. Thank Goodness for Walmart (since we can't bring home baked goods in to school anymore)!!

How fun! I never had my birthday in school either, always right after we got out (May 30!) So a few times I had teachers who let summer birthday students "pick" a birthday during the year or celebrate our half-birthdays! Do any of your boys have Mrs. S-H? She was my third grade teacher and the first one I remember letting me do that! It always made me feel special to celebrate at school like the other kids! :)
