5 is hard. Really hard. Harder than 4, 3, 2, 1, or infancy.
Apparently it's very difficult to be 5. It's also very difficult to parent 5.
...maybe that's why it's hard to be 5. So confusing. So challenging.
I'm never sure what moments will be good, and which ones will be a struggle. Every day the same activities result in different emotions. It's a guessing game - all the time.
I'm left exhausted - mentally, emotionally, and physically at the end of every day.
Whew.

There is a book by Jamie Lee Curtis and Laura Cornell called It's Hard to be Five. We got it for Scottie when he turned five and it is fantastic. It kind of gave me a new perspective on that age. I love their books. My other favorite by them is The Human Race. Über cute! Your post made me think of the books, check em out.
P.S. I hate to say this, but I do not think it gets any easier.
